The Council is responsible for the development of the local economy and has a big impact by coordinating, financially assisting local projects and investments in infrastructure and other socio-economic fields. The county is economically underdeveloped; therefore, major importance should be accorded to improving education, to R&D activities, innovation, to the exchange of information. The R&D performance is low, one of the major causes being the lack of business infrastructure and supportive services, such as financial and marketing consultancy. In order to fasten economic development, initiatives were taken regarding the establishment of business parks in the region, but due to the lack of experience in the area, these initiatives have not been well implemented. The Council can involve about 20 qualified employees to the program and has a wide range of necessary equipments (PCs, fax, copier, projectors etc.) and has conference rooms to provide an effective contribution to the project.
